ABOUT THE COLLECTION

The Solstice series represents the quiet, internal power that winter can provide.

A returning to the light + a returning to the self

To become who you were always meant to be.

To find contentment where you are and where you are going.

To belong. To illuminate. To wonder.

the artist’s favorite piece:

‘Remember Where You’ve Been’ was one of the last paintings created in this collection. Slowly but surely, it became my most treasured piece. So many feelings of genuine uncertainty went into creating it, but in the end, it didn’t win.

This is a painting about overcoming hopelessness + doubt in a season of impossibility.

When darkness is the only thing you can see in front of you. Remember the times before: when there was warmth, and light, and connection. Hold onto those things, Hope will always come back to you.

behind the light:

I’ve been painting light since 2014. It will always be a subject that never fails to impress + fascinate me. I’m always striving to find new ways to capture it!

The Solstice series has two different subjects, but are bridged together by light + windows. Light pouring through and light emitting out. It originally started to honor the returning of the light following the Winter Solstice, and the power one can behold when they have time to reflect, to heal, and to notice the small details. What followed along was so much more:

A lot of myself was poured into these paintings and I’m so honored to be able to create in this way. In my deepest doubts + fears, I approached each painting whole heartedly, each more sacred than the last. A familiar thing paintings can do is tell you what they want to say, and it is important to listen.

When it feels like darkness will seep into everything, the light will always return.

You can always return to yourself.

You can become who you were always meant to be.

You can always hope for more.

You can find magic in the mundane.

You just have to look.

This collection of paintings may be revolving around the season of winter, but the messages of each will remain evergreen.
