This collection of figurative oil paintings is incredibly personal to my life in Savannah, Georgia, and traces the resilient interweaving within the human experience. Inspirations for this body of work included the Japanese art, Kintsugi, kinship in humanity and nature, and my own nurtured connections to Savannah locals. A continuous element of gold leaf thread runs through every work, physically and conceptually binding the subjects. The gold leaf is not just ornate, but is a living presence, applied in fine, deliberate pathways. Each painting centers on human portraits of individuals connected to my time living in Savannah, Georgia and at SCAD. The paintings move between moments of reflection, yearning, or reaching—hands almost touching, examinations to their grounding, or simply a place to rest in peace.
